Our Champions are the visionaries who go above and beyond in supporting our mission.

Since 1970, North Carolina Sea Grant has provided research, education and outreach to serve our entire state.
They work with local, state, and national policymakers and scientists to co-produce critical projects in four focus areas: healthy coastal ecosystems, resilient communities and economies, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and environmental literacy and workforce development.
With significant returns on investment, North Carolina Sea Grant forge partnerships and support research, education, and outreach. Funding opportunities include grants for established scientists and specialists, fellowships to develop the next generation of researchers and policymakers, and special collaborations that fuse community and academic expertise.

The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium is a state agency established in 1978 to manage the NOAA National Sea Grant College Program for South Carolina. The Consortium is a member of a nationwide network of 34 Sea Grant College Programs.
Their are located Charleston, South Carolina, in the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor, established as a National Heritage Area by Congress.
Their purpose is to generate and provide science-based information on issues and opportunities to improve the social and economic well-being of coastal residents while ensuring the optimal use and conservation of marine and coastal natural resources.

For over 50 years, UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant has served the state.
They provide integrated research, education and extension programs that foster the responsible use of Georgia’s coastal resources by individuals, decision-makers and management agencies. Their program is managed through a federal-state partnership between the University of Georgia (UGA) and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Sea Grant College Program, a national network of 34 Sea Grant programs located in coastal and Great Lakes states and territories.
The mission is to improve the environmental, social and economic health of the Georgia coast through research, education and extension. Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s applied research capabilities, local knowledge, and on-the-ground workforce allows them to rapidly identify issues, capitalize on opportunities, and generate practical solutions to real problems. This is achieved through a place-based, interdisciplinary approach that combines research, education, extension, law and policy, and communications efforts to understand risks and uncertainties and provide solutions.

The Commercial Fisheries Center of Rhode Island (CFCRI) is the home for the Ocean State’s commercial fishing community. The center was founded to preserve commercial fishing as a profession, culture, and way of life through promoting the sustainability of the resource.
Achieving true sustainability in our fisheries is a difficult and complicated feat. But CFCRI believes in cultivating an environment of open communication and encouraging the sharing of knowledge about our ocean and it’s resources. In the pursuit of sustainable seas, our approach is innovative, our lens is optimistic, and our goals are ambitious.
Their members believe in commercial fishing as a profession, a culture and a way of life. We seek to preserve the sanctity of our community, the solvency of our small business and the sustainability of the fishery resource. The Commercial Fisheries Center of Rhode Island is the headquarters to bring fishermen, scientists, managers, and elected officials together in a collaborative effort to improve our fisheries and our understanding of the marine environment so that the proud heritage of our industry continues nobly through future generations.

The Gulf of America Reef Fish Shareholders’ Alliance (Shareholders’) is a proactive, resilient, and effective organization of commercial fishermen in the Gulf of America that advocates for accountable and sustainable fisheries, public access to American seafood, profitable fishing businesses, and a durable IFQ system.
The Shareholders’ believe that it is our responsibility to support good science and data, to educate regional and federal regulators, and to play an active role in shaping our commercial fishing regulations. They are working to support the next generation of commercial fishermen that are stepping up to carry on a tradition that has existed for hundreds of years in the Gulf of America.
